Intrinsically Safe Range

Intrinsically Safe Range

Are you looking for a reliable, safe, and effective solution for fulfilling your fire system requirements in hazardous areas? The Klaxon Sonos Intrinsically Safe Range is an excellent option. This range has been approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres for Group I (Mining) & Group II (Above Ground) applications, and it incorporates a high Ingress Protected IP66 enclosure, making it suitable for use in various environments.

The Sonos IS range is available as a sounder, beacon or combined device, giving you options to meet your specific requirements. The 2-stage alarm sounder has 32 selectable tones, while the 9 SMT LEDs in the beacon have either a 1 Hz flash rate or static mode, providing clear and effective notification in emergency situations.

The construction of the Sonos IS range is made of Flame Retardant Polycarbonate, ensuring durability and longevity, while the operating temperature range of -40ºC to +55ºC and humidity level of >90% at 20ºC make it suitable for use in various conditions.

The Klaxon Intrinsically Safe IS Sonos Range conforms to EN 60079-0:2012 + All:2013 (IEC 60079-0:2011) and EN-60079-11:2012 + (IEC 60079-11:2011) standards, ensuring the safety and reliability of the product. The range is also Diode Polarised & End of line resistor compatible, making it even easier to install and use. As with all intrinsically safe devices they should be installed with a safety barrier such as a Shunt Diode or Galvanic isolator which safely separates the hazardous and safe area sections of the fire alarm system cabling. Existing barriers can be utilised, but we do also have appropriate options available for purchase alongside the Sonos IS range.

This range of devices is suitable for use in Zones 0, 1, 2, 20, 21 & 22, providing a broad range of applications.

In summary, the Klaxon Intrinsically Safe IS Sonos Range is a reliable and effective solution for fulfilling your fire system requirements in hazardous areas. Its approval from ATEX and IECEx, high Ingress Protected IP66 enclosure, and Diode Polarised & End of line resistor compatibility make it a safe, reliable and easy-to-use option. With its durable construction and clear notification features, the Sonos IS range is a smart choice for those looking for an effective solution for their hazardous area needs.

Klaxon COVID-19 Update

With the unprecedented situation caused by the current global coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, Klaxon is taking proactive steps to mitigate and manage risk as the situation continues to evolve.

We have taken a number of precautionary measures to protect our customers and our staff.

We are following government guidelines by increasing social distancing, which means that our sales and technical teams will no longer be making customer, branch or site visits. Instead, our teams shall be available through remote communications - via telephone, email and video conferencing.

Klaxon has also taken steps to minimise and mitigate against the potential impact on the supply chain, in order to make sure that Klaxon products and services remain available.

  • We have secured a strong component supply chain pipeline and we have sufficient supplies to maintain manufacturing until the end of April. We are working to secure component supply and minimise disruption beyond that.
  • We have pre-produced a reasonable contingency stock of finished goods of our most popular products.
  • We manufacture all our products in our UK facilities and are not reliant upon external manufacturing resources.
  • We have taken steps to protect our staff including remote working where possible, increasing social distancing, and introduced stringent and exacting hygiene standards.

We will continue to actively monitor and manage the situation. We will update further should the conditions change.

Please contact a member of our sales team below to discuss how we can help minimise any potential disruption.

We thank you for your continued support and wish everyone the best during these difficult times.
