Klaxon Signals worked closely with Siemens to develop an intelligent voice sounder for a client’s gas extinguishing alarm system that, from a single unit, produces all audio and visual signals associated with gaseous total flooding fire protection systems with the added feature of voice messaging.
Voice messaging removes uncertainty by providing clear instructions. For example, once the 2nd stage has been activated on a gas panel, the alarm engages with the appropriate tone and beacon followed by a voice message to announce the reason for the alarm: “Attention. Attention. 2nd stage extinguishing system alarm. Extinguishing system release imminent. Please evacuate the area.”
The Klaxon Gas Extinguishing Voice Sounder offers other benefits in addition to voice messaging: “They are easy to install and, because only a single unit is needed rather than multiple sounders plus a beacon, the time required for installation and wiring is greatly reduced. This means that, although the new sounders are more expensive than traditional types, the overall cost of using them is almost the same in small installations, and appreciable savings are possible on larger systems,” said Chris Downing, Product Manager for Fire Protection at Siemens Building Technologies.
Following on from this successful partnership with Siemens, Klaxon Signals has continued to develop this technology for the benefit of the whole fire protection industry. The sounder system has the ability to be compatible with a number of gas extinguishing panels in the market providing the same benefits as the Siemens installation.
